The end of innoncence in baseball came about in the 1980's The decade started off well with a great crop of future hall of fame and star players. Rickey Henderson, Cal Ripken Jr, Tim Raines, Wade Boggs, Ryne Sandberg, Tony Gwynn and Don Mattingly started their careers. In the mid to late 1980's star players that ended up creating a lot of drama like Mark McGwire, Roger Clemens, and Barry Bonds came into the league.
Production of baseball cards in the late 1980's was very high which affected the value of the sports cards. In the early 1980's the hall of fame baseball players like Pete Rose, Nolan Ryan, George Brett, Robin Yount and many others are very undervalued.
